Independent gain from Labour

A by-election was held for the Abergele-Pensarn division of Conwy Council on 20 October 2016 following the resignation of Labour Cllr Rick Stubbs, who was elected in a previous by-election held on 18 September 2014, covered here.

Alan Hunter gained the seat as an Independent.
